Field Service Engineer – Explosion Protection Based Northern Ireland

Job Purpose Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on clients explosion suppression & isolation systems at customer locations as required.

Salary £35,000 – £38,000 plus expenses and great benefits.

CDS Recruitment and Training have an amazing cient who are now recruiting for a Service Engineer, this is a new position to primarily cover Northern & Southern Ireland, secondary as backup for mainland UK, could also cover other EU locations as their experience grows.  We are ideally looking for someone from a field maintenance background – Industrial and knowledge of ATEX.  

Principle Responsibilities
A Home-based role but working on varied industrial sites, predominantly Northern & Southern Ireland & the UK.
To perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on installed systems to ensure optimal functionality and reliability. Diagnose technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting problems, and offering timely solutions. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by delivering exceptional service and acting as a reliable service engineer.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of service visits, technical issues, resolutions, and customer interactions.
Travel to customer sites as required, often on short notice, to perform maintenance and repairs. Flexibility in travel schedule is essential.
Adhere to the SHEQ & regulatory regimes.

Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.

Ability to work emergency cover at short notice and be on an emergency call rota.

Calm, diplomatic personality; sometimes there is pressure to get equipment working quickly.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical stakeholders.
High degree of personal organisation, requirement to maintain own diary, vehicle, tools and stock.
Able to work professionally without supervision. Assist in other pan-European regions as required.
Physically fit, can be a physically demanding role. Able to work at heights. Assist in other pan-European regions as required.

Essential knowledge, qualifications and skills Preferred knowledge and experience
HNC (or equivalent) qualification in a suitable engineering discipline.
Proficient in using Windows, Gmail, Word, Excel.
Multi-skilled background – electrical, mechanical, controls & instrumentation.
Valid driving licence – preferably clean.
Proven track record of field maintenance experience – preferably the industrial sector.
CompEx trained.
Knowledge / experience of ATEX environments.
C&G 2330 (or 2365) parts 2 & 3.
Ability to use Salesforce.
IPAF Certificate.
Health & Safety qualification
