This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join an established business on a permanent basis. Salary around £45k depending on qualifications/experience.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for the review, development, implementation and monitoring of the organisations Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management Systems, to ensure the safety of staff, contractors and visitors in line with current health and safety and associated legislation.
Prepare the Annual Health & Safety Plan considering feedback from external parties, staff surveys, incident & near miss reporting and the risk register noting changes in the both the environments in which the company operates and current legislation
Maintain Regular communication with staff and contractors including, but not limited to:
Quarterly Safety stand downs
Staff safety briefings
Toolbox talks and sharing best practice
Design and deliver training sessions on key areas of Company activity in relation to Health and Safety and support the delivery of other training programmes, including new staff induction and new Manager training / support.
A degree in Safety Management is a major requirement.
Completing a professional certification program in health and safety management would be an advantage.
Ideally the candidate will have operated in the construction industry and have a thorough knowledge of safe working practices,
Strong knowledge of environmental and health and safety basic regulatory and legal framework
Ability to lead a team of people effectively and act equally as a team member
Ability to foresee the possibility of a risk occurring and providing suitable mitigations
Literate in Information Technology including Microsoft Office packages
Ability to effectively and efficiently handle pressure and still keep working schedules and meet deadlines.
Ability to analyse events and trends to develop sustainable and practical improvements
Ability to effect and deliver change
