Mechanical Plant Fitter – Waste Treatment plant industry

Location – Rochester

Day Shift

Salary – Up to £35,000 Plus up to 10 % Bonus

CDS Recruitment and Training Ltd have been asked to source a skilled mechanical biased plant fitter to carry out maintenance and break down schedules within a waste treatment environment.

As the maintenance fitter you will perform the day-to-day maintenance tasks associated with the operation of a busy waste treatment plant, whilst maintaining the highest level of compliance to the company’s health and safety, environmental, procedural and statutory goals, you will assist the Site Manager in the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the facility. To respond to break-downs and to negotiate with external contractors/suppliers of specialist maintenance support or equipment. This role is key in ensuring the safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the facility within established the operational standards.

The role

•Work alongside a small team of plant staff to ensure optimal performance.

•Ensure that all planned preventative maintenance is carried out in accordance with the relevant schedule that is in place.

•Maintain and keep all maintenance records for the site ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and filed in the appropriate manner.

•You will be expected to take a positive approach to issues that may occur on the plant and propose solutions to the site manager, so that plans can be made in advance of a planned shut-down to remedy potential issues.

•Have a proactive approach to potential issues around the site and work with other personnel to find solutions.

•Produce schedules for periods of extended maintenance.

•Take a proactive approach to health and safety to ensure compliance in all areas

•Maintain an inventory of all equipment spares and submit this monthly to the site manager, ensuring that critical components are highlighted for purchase.

•Ensure that all areas of the plant are kept and operated in a safe manner at all times.

•You will be expected to assist plant operators when needed in their routine maintenance duties.

•Working with the site manager, ensure all maintenance related risk assessments are up to date

As well as the key areas of responsibility you will be expected to be flexible in the following areas.

•To respond out of hours when breakdowns occur

•Be proactive in encouraging the operators to take a more active role in process and/or environmental improvements around the plant

•Undertake any additional training that may be required for you to improve your knowledge and understanding on all aspects of the plant, systems and business

•Deputise for the plant manager during periods of leave or absence

•Any other duties that may be required from time to time as requested by the site manager

• Recognised Mechanical apprenticeship or similar

• Welding skills
